InvitationDear colleagues, friends, ultrasound and regional anesthesia fans,
To start with, I would like to inform you that we are planning a face-to-face meeting of the Baltic Society of Regional Anaesthesia (BSRA) to be held on May the 6th, 2022 in Jūrmala (Latvia).
The time has finally come to gather in our coastline city Jūrmala once again to hear progressive & perspective broadening lectures, participate in educating workshops and hold discussions on regional anesthesia/analgesia as well as ultrasound in our daily practice.
As of now, we have already held five successful BSRA conferences in the Baltics as well as one with your online presence, the e-BSRA. Thus, the traditional 7th Annual conference of the Baltic Society of Regional Anesthesia takes place in Latvia.
The challenges brought by Covid-19 have occupied our minds and day-to-day life, costing the majority of our energy and time for the last two years. We all have done an immense job! Hopefully, all restrictions in Latvia will be lifted until the time of the event, according to the official government sources. And it's truly great that after the pandemic, we're finally being able to relaunch our traditional model of communication, combined with new knowledge and experience.
Despite the pandemic being over, we are sadly facing a new tragedy - the war in Ukraine. Following Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the Baltic Societies of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care expressed their solidarity to people and colleagues in Ukraine in an official letter signed by the presidents of Societies in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Still to this day, we stand united with Ukraine.
The current situation in Ukraine makes us think about our professional readiness to react in a potential military conflict situation. In regards to this, we would like to point out this very important topic in our program and offer special knowledge and expertise from the military perspective for using regional anaesthesia on the battlefield.
Our two major focuses will be, firstly, ultrasound in our daily practice in OR, intensive care, emergency room and literally everywhere we can help our patients. Secondly, modern approaches of regional analgesia to abdominal, shoulder, and hip surgery are the most abundant surgeries on our OR’s.
Dedicated experts will share their knowledge and skills during plenary sessions, pro-con discussions and workshops. We truly believe that every specialty related to patieon’s acute care - either anaesthesiology, intensive care or emergency medicine - already uses ultrasound in daily practice and that our conference will broaden horizons even further.
Our greatest pleasure is to invite all of you to Jūrmala on May the 6th, 2022. We are looking forward to welcoming you! Feel free to invite your friends as well!
On behalf of the Baltic Society of Regional Anaesthesia,
